VfB Stuttgart consider cover for injured Seimen as options surface | OneFootball

VfB Stuttgart are weighing up whether to bring in cover after Dennis Seimen suffered a thigh muscle injury that will keep him out until the end of September, with Champions League fixtures falling in that spell.

According to Sky Sports, there are currently no plans to recruit a replacement, with Fabian Bredlow expected to step up after his strong display in last season's DFB-Pokal semi-final win over SC Freiburg.

Planning for the new season had largely been completed and the club believe there is ample goalkeeping quality even without Seimen, but internal talks in the coming days will determine whether to re-enter the market.

If Bredlow deputises, Stefan Drljaca and summer arrival Marius Funk would provide back-up. Stuttgart had envisaged Germany U21 international Seimen taking over following the end of Alexander Nübel's three-year loan.

Stefan Ortega and Ørjan Nyland have been floated as short-term options, though there has been no movement from Stuttgart so far. Ortega is heavily linked with Olympiacos, while former RB Leipzig keeper Nyland is searching for a new club after a strong tournament for Norway in North America.
