Deniz Undav, Angelo Stiller and Jamie Leweling have been called up to Germany’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, but three players are missing from the DFB Pokal finalists.

As reported by Kicker, Chris Führich, Maximilian Mittelstädt and Josha Vagnoman will not be included in Thursday’s 26-man squad announcement.

Vagnoman’s omission perhaps doesn’t come as a surprise, but the absences of Mittelstädt and Führich certainly go. The former has scored six goals and provided four assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances in 2025/26 as VfB secured UEFA Champions League football, while has also been in exceptional form with seven goals and eight assists across 33 league appearances this term.

Additionally, both players have showcased their versatility having been deployed in several roles throughout the course of the season with Mittelstädt, a left-back by trade, often operating as a left-sided centre-back in a back three.

There’s also no news on Alexander Nübel but with Nagelsmann expected to name four goalkeepers in his squad, expect VfB’s custodian to be there.
