Galatasaray's Champions League exit at Anfield turned bruising on and off the pitch, their 4-0 defeat to Liverpool sending the hosts into the quarter-finals and leaving Victor Osimhen and Noa Lang in hospital.

Osimhen collided with Ibrahima Konate in a first-half aerial challenge, the defender landing on his arm. The Nigerian, arm strapped, saw out the half but did not reappear. The club said in a statement that hospital checks showed a fracture in his right forearm.

Lang replaced Osimhen at the interval, then in the second half caught his right thumb in the advertising hoardings behind Alisson's goal, leaving him with a partially severed thumb. He received extensive treatment from medical staff, including Liverpool doctors, before being carried off and taken to hospital. He was scheduled to undergo surgery in Liverpool within hours, with Galatasaray medics present.

Lang later posted an Instagram story of a video call with Osimhen, both grinning and displaying bandaged limbs. The clip offered a brief dose of levity amid a grim night.

There has been no confirmation of recovery timelines for either player. For now, supporters can take comfort that both appear in good spirits.
