Victor Osimhen is at the centre of a summer scramble after Nigeria coach Eric Chelle signalled the Galatasaray striker may be changing clubs. According to Goal.com, talks over his next move are under way with Premier League and Serie A sides attentive.
Chelle left the 27-year-old out of the Super Eagles squad to face Poland, saying he preferred him to stay home rather than play below full fitness while resolving his future. He also said Lookman was tired and that Atletico Madrid had asked for him to be excused.
A switch to England has long been floated, with Manchester United repeatedly linked and Patrice Evra urging the club to act. United signed Benjamin Sesko for £74 million ($100m) in 2025, yet the appeal of a proven goalscorer such as Osimhen remains. With Michael Carrick now in permanent charge, the hunt for extra firepower continues and comparisons to Didier Drogba persist.
A Serie A return is not off the table despite his acrimonious Napoli exit. Osimhen has said he was treated “like a dog” after a club TikTok post, and the relationship never recovered even after the Scudetto.
Juventus and Roma are monitoring the situation and the Bianconeri previously held talks before his Istanbul move. Any comeback in Italy could be complicated by clauses in his Galatasaray contract restricting switches to Napoli’s direct rivals until late 2027.
Should he depart this summer, Osimhen would leave a rich legacy in Türkiye. Since 2024 he has scored 59 goals and supplied 16 assists in 74 games, winning two Super Lig titles and one Turkish Cup.
Rediscovering his spark in Istanbul has restored his standing, but he remains a striker in his prime who wants regular Champions League nights. Whether Old Trafford, the Olimpico or a return to Turin awaits will be decided in the weeks ahead.
