“In Perth, Rúben Amorim, his staff and the entire team observed a minute of silence in memory of Franco Baresi.”
Baresi is the second-most-capped player for Milan, with 719 appearances, following Paolo Maldini, who played 902 games for the Rossoneri.
Maldini honoured his former teammate with an Instagram message: “You protected me when I was a child, guided me as a young man, and inspired me as an adult. You were the greatest footballer I have ever had the honour of playing alongside.”
Milan retired Baresi’s iconic No.6 after his retirement in 1997.
