Chelsea’s game against Arsenal today was absolutely terrible. There was a total lack of quality or entertainment from both sides. The performance made us sad, the result made us miserable.

So we were absolutely delighted to have Andrey Santos on hand to cheer us up. He’s just scored an absolute BELTER for Strasbourg in their 2-1 win over Toulouse, another huge result as they press for European football.

That’s a superb return of 8 goals, from midfield, for a mid-table team for the on loan Chelsea man. You really couldn’t ask for more. He’s had one of the most outstanding seasons of any player his age in Europe this season, and his development since we signed him has been so impressive.

You can see the goal in the clips embedded here:

The signing of Dario Essugo from Sporting CP, which has yet to be confirmed but is very much in the pipeline, with insiders like Fabrizio Romano having already called it a done deal.

The Brazilian star won’t be expecting to be first choice or starting every week, especially in his first season back at Chelsea. But he will expect regular game time, and won’t want to be behind Lavia AND Essugo in the pecking order.

If he keeps playing like this, there’s no reason to worry about that anyway. In fact, it’s Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo who should be looking over their shoulders rather than Santos worrying about being on the bench too much.

In fact, we could have done with the 20 year old at the Emirates today. At least we would have had a bit of goal threat.
