Villa to assess Tammy Abraham in pre-season after shoulder surgery | OneFootball

Aston Villa will assess Tammy Abraham when he returns for pre-season following shoulder surgery.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 28-year-old had a procedure last week to address a longstanding issue after playing through pain late in the campaign.

His recovery timeline is not yet clear, with Villa expecting a better picture when the squad reports to Bodymoor Heath next month.

Abraham joined from Besiktas for £18.25million in January, made 16 appearances under Unai Emery and started only four as Ollie Watkins led the line.

He previously helped Villa win promotion in 2019, scoring 26 goals during a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Villa visit Walsall at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium on Tuesday, July 21, at 7.30pm.

They then meet Real Sociedad at the same ground on Saturday, July 25, kick-off 3pm.

Further warm-ups are confirmed against Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on August 7 and away to Borussia Monchengladbach on August 15.

Between those dates comes their first competitive outing, the European Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain in Salzburg on August 12.
