Villarreal agree deal for Alex Freeman, arrival due this weekend | OneFootball

Villarreal have an agreement to sign Alex Freeman before the winter transfer window closes at 23.59 on Monday, the second of February, according to El Periódico Mediterráneo.

The United States international will cost €3.2 million, with a further €two million tied to clauses described as difficult to trigger.

The 21-year-old right-back is joining from Orlando City, where his contract runs until 31 December 2026. Villarreal had targeted a summer move.

Juan Foyth’s season-ending rupture of the left Achilles tendon has prompted the club to bring the deal forward. The centre-back faces the rest of the campaign out.

Both clubs will formalise the transfer in the coming days and the player is expected in Vila-real this weekend. Freeman will sign a long-term contract of five or six seasons, a top-level addition.
