Villarreal eye sell-on windfalls this summer from Iván Martín, Javi Guerra and others | OneFootball

Villarreal could top up their summer budget without selling anyone from the first team, thanks to sell-on and profit-share clauses on former players.

The club retain interests in Iván Martín, Javi Guerra, Thierno Barry and Karl Etta-Eyong, all linked with potential moves. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, some of those deals could bring notable income.

Girona signed Iván Martín after two loans for around two million, with Villarreal keeping 30 percent of a future sale. After Girona’s relegation, he has been linked with Espanyol, Sevilla, Athletic, Deportivo and clubs abroad. A fee near six million could send about 1.8 million to Villarreal.

Villarreal also hold 30 percent of Javi Guerra’s future sale after his switch to Valencia. Barcelona have asked via Deco, though Valencia point to his clause. A 30 million move would give Villarreal nine million, rising to 12 at 40.

Everton paid 32.5 million plus 5.5 in add-ons for Thierno Barry, and Villarreal kept 10 percent of any resale. RB Leipzig have contacted Everton. A significant sale could deliver another payment.

Karl Etta-Eyong joined Levante for three million with tiered profit splits, 80 percent of profit between three and 7.5 million, 50 percent between 7.5 and 15, then 20 percent above 15. Ipswich Town are interested, Levante are not under pressure to sell, and his clause is higher for English clubs. Cádiz will take 50 percent of Villarreal’s proceeds.

These clauses could be activated this summer, with Girona, Valencia, Everton and Levante central to Villarreal’s calculations.
