Vincent Kompany on Bayern's 5-4 loss to PSG: "We could have scored two or three more goals" | OneFootball

Watching from the stands due to his suspension, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany witnessed a true spectacle as his side fell to a 5-4 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

Speaking after the match, Kompany praised his team’s attacking performance, saying they could have scored even more, while also calling for defensive improvements ahead of next week’s return leg in Munich.

“When two teams with such an approach meet, something like today can happen. I think we could have scored two or three more goals," Kompany said, adding: 

"We were often in front of PSG’s goal, but what we need to improve is our defensive organisation when we lose the ball. We didn’t always look good there and allowed our opponents to counter too easily. 

"Now we have to win at home, but we’ve done that very often before. We need 75,000 fans next week and an atmosphere like against Real Madrid, maybe even more.”

The Belgian coach also admitted he was uncomfortable watching the match so far away from the touchline.

“It wasn't the position I'd have liked to watch the game from," Kompany said (via iMiaSanMia). 

"I told Luis Enrique I don't understand how he likes to watch games from here [laughs]. I liked the mentality of the team today. It was a game for people who love football,” he continued.
