Vini Jr has reunited with Lucas Paquetá in a playful video to launch the midfielder’s Flamengo return, with the pair breaking into song.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the clip opens with childhood footage of Paquetá singing about the 2011 side, naming Ronaldo Angelim, Renato Abreu, Thiago Neves and Ronaldinho. Vini Jr then cuts in, telling him to switch the track, before the duo appear together and deliver a chant about Paquetá’s comeback.

Current squad members Pedro, Danilo and Iago reacted to the post. The pair previously shone together for Flamengo in 2017 and 2018, before Vini Jr left mid 2018 for Real Madrid, with Paquetá joining Milan that December.

In a 2022 interview, Vinícius said he would return to his boyhood club alongside his friend. Last week, speaking to SBT, he said he will stay in Europe for a few more years.

Paquetá has now rejoined after Flamengo invested 42 million euros, R$ 260 million, to sign him from West Ham in England.

He will wear the number 20 in tribute to Vini Jr, who had that shirt when he departed in 2018. Back then Paquetá wore 39 and 11. Following the announcement, the academy graduate is racing to be registered.
