Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. on Saturday overtook an iconic fellow countryman in one category in the La Liga history books.
This came owing to the Brazilian’s efforts during his side’s meeting with Atlético Madrid.
The season’s first Madrid Derby was of course played to completion a short time ago, at the Metropolitano.
The aforementioned Vinícius Jr. for his part featured from the off in the fixture, joining Kylian Mbappé in attack.
And en route to an eventual 5-2 defeat for his side, the 25-year-old laid on a fine assist during the first-half.
Slipped in down the left wing, Vinícius did superbly to cut back before teeing up Arda Güler for a brilliant left-footed finish.
And in the process, the Real Madrid standout overtook compatriot Neymar in the history books in Spain’s top-flight.
As revealed by statisticians ‘StatMuse’ on ‘X’, Vinícius (104) has now racked up more combined goals and assists than ex-Barcelona wide-man Neymar (103) in La Liga.
