Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk says he has “no idea” whether he will remain at the club beyond the end of this season. The 33 year-old former Celtic star has previously talked up his chances of staying on at Anfield but now isn’t sure what’s going to happen.
This comes after Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League by French Champions PSG in a penalty shoot-out at Anfield last night after both legs of the tie ended in 1-0 away victories.

“I still have no idea at the moment. Genuinely,” Virgil Van Dijk said, as reported by BBC. “At the moment I don’t even know what will happen next year. If anyone says they do know, they are lying to your face.
“Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes but that is about it.”
The former Celt was asked whether discussions over his own future had been paused in order to focus on matters on the pitch. “It is not on hold. Nothing on hold,” VVD replied. “Listen, there are 10 games to go and that is my full focus. If there is news, you guys will know it. I don’t even know myself.”
Meanwhile leading Liverpool fan media site Empire of the Kop report that many Liverpool supporters will have been concerned after Virgil van Dijk was spotted speaking to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi after the penalty shoot-out resulted in the French side progressing to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Virgil van Dijk is a free agent at the end of this season and in the absence of any agreement being reached at Anfield, a summer move to Paris to captain this exciting PSG side might be a decent way to round off his outstanding playing career.
If he fancies another chance to wear the Hoops then he should give former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers a call! We’d all welcome him back to Celtic with open arms!
Chance would be a fine thing!
