Vitória praise STJD for charging Palmeiras player Maurício after 4-0 win | OneFootball

Vitória have praised the STJD for filing a charge against Palmeiras player Maurício after Wednesday’s match, saying in a statement that the complaint exposes a grave refereeing error. It believes Maurício should have been sent off for elbowing Cacá, not booked.

The game at Barradão on Wednesday 29 ended in a 4-0 win for Palmeiras. Cacá was dismissed on 36 minutes of the first half for a foul on Arias, and Luan Cândido was also sent off.

On Saturday the tribunal also charged Cacá, Luan Cândido, Vitória president Fábio Mota and the club. Cacá faces article 245 for violent play, a ban of one to six matches. Luan Cândido is cited under article 243-F over a robbery gesture towards the officiating team, with a fine of R$100 to R$100,000 and a possible four to six game suspension.

Mota is cited under article 258, which carries a suspension of 15 to 180 days, and Vitória under article 191, a fine of R$100 to R$100,000. Maurício has been charged over violent conduct, which can bring a ban of one to six matches.

The note names referee Alex Gomes Stefano and VAR Marco Aurélio Augusto Fazekas Ferreira, arguing the lack of an on-field review undermined the credibility of Brazilian officiating. The club will attend Tuesday’s hearing to defend its interests and seeks the complaints against its athletes, the president and the club to be dismissed. In May, Mota was punished under article 258 and served a 15-day ban.
