James Bord is still the South Yorkshire outfit's preferred bidder, while administrator Kris Wigfield has revealed that Wednesday are losing £1million a month.

The Owls have not won in the Championship since a triumph over Portsmouth in September, and their relegation to League One will be confirmed if they lose the Steel City Derby to Sheffield United on Sunday.

Meanwhile, boss Henrik Pedersen has called for Wednesday's next owner to invest in the Hillsborough club's training pitches, which provides just one example of the mismanagement overseen by former owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Wednesday scored their first goal of the calendar year in last Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Millwall, showing how detrimental their off-field struggles have been to their on-field efforts.

The Steel City side's dire financial straits have also left Pedersen with a squad largely composed of loan signings and inexperienced players.

Meanwhile, speaking to FootballFanCast about Wednesday's takeover situation, former Owls, Manchester United and England star Anderson said: "I don't know anything about it, to tell you the truth. All I would say is the quicker they can get something sorted, the better. Inevitably, they're going to go down this season, but it's about the season after.

"I hope they get the club together because it's a fabulous football club, with some great supporters, and they deserve a better outcome. The previous owner obviously ruined the football club, and it's about time to bring it back to the level it should be."

Anderson's hopes may take time to come to fruition, though, as Bord is currently being sued by his former business partner, Jonathan Cohen, over investment in Spanish club Cordoba.

Meanwhile, the EFL are assessing whether Bord's takeover would be largely funded by gambling proceeds, which could affect the outcome of his Owners' and Directors' test.

Wigfield has also provided an update that Wednesday supporters may find frustrating, outlining that Bord is currently in complex discussions with both the EFL and the Independent Football Regulator.

The Independent Football Regulator will have the power to ratify prospective owners in May, which is a responsibility that currently lies with the EFL.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters will echo Viv Anderson's sentiment

As alluded to by their former player, Anderson, Wednesday are a proud club with an impressive fanbase who deserve significantly better than the situation they currently find themselves in.

Thanks to the severe financial mismanagement of former owner Dejphon Chansiri, an Owls outfit who boasted genuine Championship play-off credentials throughout much of last season, instead find themselves staring at a certain League One return.

Chansiri's consistent failure to meet his wage obligations before being ousted in October meant that former boss Danny Rohl felt he had no choice but to leave Hillsborough last summer.

Rohl has reignited Rangers' title hopes in the Scottish Premiership, proving the quality of a strong coach who Wednesday's former owner left the Owls with no chance of retaining.

The South Yorkshire side have also been left with a lower wage bill than some League Two clubs, according to Wigfield, showing the lack of talent and experience Pedersen has among his ranks.

Consequently, the Wednesday faithful will echo Anderson's sentiment in hoping that their side will get back on their feet ahead of next season.
