Vojvoda explains Rollheiser substitution in derby against Palmeiras | OneFootball

Santos head coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda explained why he replaced Benjamín Rollheiser during the second half of the 1-0 derby defeat to Palmeiras, describing it as a strategic call.

According to Diario Do Peixe, asked if the change was due to fatigue or a technical choice, Vojvoda said it was his decision to look for something different as the minutes passed.

He felt Rollheiser had been playing well, yet he typically alters the team from midfield forward and wanted similar qualities with fresher legs. He opted for three substitutions and turned to Miguel, viewed as a comparable profile who was involved in the game. He added that decisions must be taken quickly during matches.

Rollheiser has two appearances this year and one assist. He started both matches and has been used in build-up play, often from the right.

The early exits in both outings have prompted discussion about rhythm and adaptation. The Argentine joined Santos at the start of 2025 and has at times shown visible fatigue in games.
