According to Globo.com, this two-match home stretch is seen as crucial, with the board assessing the team’s tactical identity and the coach’s in-game changes.

Against Corinthians, Santos started with three centre-backs yet conceded with the defence exposed. The internal assessment is that Vojvoda has not settled on a clear pattern, and the leveller owed to a rival error and Gabigol’s quality.

Any result short of victory against Inter could cost Vojvoda his job. The board want a more competitive side and believe the squad is much stronger, with a staff that has had more time than any recent coach.

In his favour, Vojvoda is viewed as dedicated, discreet and professional day to day. The market is difficult, there is no certain immediate replacement, and while names have been floated none convinces.
