Flamengo have flown to Colombia to face Independiente Medellín in the Libertadores on Thursday, then head straight to Porto Alegre for Sunday’s league match with Grêmio. Forward Wallace Yan has not been included, a decision by head coach Leonardo Jardim.
According to Globo.com, the 19-year-old returned on Sunday but struggled after a late cameo against Vasco, and has now been omitted by choice.
Arrascaeta will only play again in the second half of the year and, after fracturing his clavicle against Estudiantes, is out until the World Cup pause. Pulgar and Paquetá are also unavailable.
Pulgar took part in Tuesday’s session with the group, is working on the pitch with physios and fitness staff, and is recovering from an acromioclavicular joint injury to his right shoulder. He is at a more advanced stage and should return before Paquetá.
For Paquetá, the plan is to increase training loads this week before reintegration. He suffered oedema in the left thigh tendon against Bahia and has begun on-field work with the medical staff. Neither player will be cleared until fully fit.
Carrascal is available again after completing his suspension in the draw with Vasco and should replace Arrascaeta.
Flamengo trained on Tuesday morning, then travelled in the afternoon. They will complete preparations on Wednesday at Atlético Nacional’s training centre, fly overnight to Porto Alegre after the match, train at Internacional’s facility on Friday and Saturday, then play on Sunday.
