Walsall sell Connor Barrett to Wigan Athletic for undisclosed fee | OneFootball

Walsall have sold 24-year-old defender Connor Barrett to Wigan Athletic on an initial three-year contract.

The club said in a statement that the deal was for an undisclosed fee, and used the announcement to thank Barrett for his work and to wish him and his family well.

Barrett had been heavily linked with the League One club in recent weeks.

He leaves after 91 appearances across the past two seasons, having joined from National League AFC Fylde in 2024.

He was in the side that saw promotion slip away in 2025, then lost the Wembley play-off final to Wimbledon. His performances earned a place in the League Two team of the season alongside Taylor Allen.

Barrett scored his first Walsall goal on the opening day of last season against Swindon Town and netted twice more during the campaign.
