Footage of Ballon d’Or top-two Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembélé embracing at last night’s ceremony has come to the fore online.

The 2025 ‘Golden Ball’ was of course handed out on Monday evening.

After a lengthy gala which saw a whole host of world football’s leading players recognised for their efforts over the last 12 months, the ‘big one’ came down to two big-name stars.

Following stellar respective years, Ousmane Dembélé and Lamine Yamal were the final two in the running for the Ballon d’Or.

And despite claims throughout the day that the latter was all set to pip PSG’s frontman to the prize, it was Dembélé who was ultimately crowned the game’s best.

Lamine, still just 18, was no doubt left hugely disappointed by the result, after seeing his name widely pushed by fans and pundits alike as Ballon d’Or frontrunner.

As alluded to above, though, the Spanish international nevertheless showed class and composure in his response to as much.

Lamine made sure to approach Dembélé, trophy in hand, to congratulate the Frenchman with a warm embrace:
