City fans won’t need to wait long to see our newest recruit Sydney Lohmann in action this summer.

It follows an illustrious spell in her homeland where she won four Bundesliga titles, a DFB-Pokal and Supercup since her professional debut in 2017.

Before she begins pre-season with the Blues, however, the 25-year-old is currently at the 2025 UEFA European Championships after being named in Germany’s squad for the upcoming tournament – alongside new team-mate Rebecca Knaak.

Finalists in 2022, Christian Wuck’s team opened their tournament with a 2-0 win over Poland with Lohmann playing the final 20 minutes of the success at Arena St Gallen.

She was then an unused substitute as Germany booked their place in the knockout phase ahead of their final Group C assignment with Sweden on Saturday 12 July 20:00 (UK) which will determine who finishes at the table’s summit.

Lohmann’s inclusion means she’s at her third major tournament after playing four games at Euro 2022, including all of Germany’s knockout games as they reached the final.

She was then given the nod into the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad where her nation finished third in Group H.
