In a surprising twist during Real Madrid’s recent La Liga match against Espanyol last weekend, reports from Mundo Deportivo suggest that Vinicius expressed his dissatisfaction with teammate Dani Ceballos to manager Carlo Ancelotti.
This incident took place during an intense game that saw frustrations boil over on the pitch.
The match marked Vinicius’ return to La Liga action after being sidelined since January 3 due to a red card incident in a match against Valencia.
Although he found the back of the net during the game, the goal was disallowed due to a prior foul by Kylian Mbappe, sparking protests from both Vinicius and his teammates.
This controversial refereeing decision initially seemed like the main source of tension, but it was soon revealed that internal team dynamics added to the Brazilian’s frustrations.
Television footage from Movistar Plus captured Vinicius approaching Ancelotti to voice his complaints about Ceballos. The issue appeared to stem from Ceballos’ reluctance to deliver passes to the touchline, which hindered Vinicius’ movement on the field.
Ancelotti responded by instructing Ceballos to shift to the left, but the midfielder was slow to comply, further irritating Vinicius. Even when Ceballos eventually passed the ball, Vinicius continued to express his displeasure.
The situation escalated as Fran Garcia also drew Vinicius’ ire, compounding the tension. Lucas Vazquez, a senior figure on the team, had to step in to address Vinicius and later attempted to calm him down.
The incident highlights the competitive nature within the squad and the pressure to perform at the highest level, especially when the team was trailing.
While disagreements are common in football, it remains to be seen whether this episode will have any lasting impact on team dynamics.
