Watford are expected to sack Will Still after their final game of the season against Coventry City this weekend.
Watford’s dismal form under Ed Still continued on Saturday as they were hammered 5-1 by Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.
The Hornets made the decision to turn to the 35-year-old in February after Javi Gracia had resigned, but things haven’t gone to plan for Still.
The defeat on Teesside was the seventh loss in 14 Championship games for the ex-Charleroi chief, with Watford picking up just 13 points in that period.

Therefore, supporters have understandably grown increasingly frustrated and concerned at the direction the club were heading under Still, who was coming under serious scrutiny.
And, it appears a decision has been made by the owners, as TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has revealed that Still is expected to leave Vicarage Road after their final game at home to champions Coventry City this weekend.
There’s no early indication about who will replace Still, but Watford’s form meant he was always going to be under pressure, especially when you consider how regularly the club have made changes over the years.
The manner of recent defeats will have also concerned the hierarchy, as Watford have lost four on the bounce, conceding 12 goals in that run, and they have found the net just once.
Obviously, Watford’s history means rival fans often laugh at the way they operate, but the reality is that Still can have few complaints about losing his job.
Over a period of a few months, Watford have shown relegation form, and the manner of the recent defeats suggest that Still has lost the players, and he can have few complaints if he does lose his job.
As well as that, it has been difficult to see what he is trying to do. There has been no clear style of play, they have struggled to score goals, and, over the past few weeks in particular, there has been a real soft side to the team defensively that has made them easy to beat.
In a way, it’s a relief that the campaign is coming to an end, because if it went on much longer there would have been fears Watford could’ve been dragged into the relegation fight.
Of course, any head coach needs time to get their ideas across, but it wasn’t working for Still, and it’s no surprise that Watford are going to make a change when the season is over.

But, that’s not going to suddenly make everything right for Watford, and the Pozzo family need to address a lot of underlying issues at the club.
The immediate priority will be bringing in a proven head coach, but the squad is lacking quality, depth and experience in certain areas, and that needs to be sorted in the transfer window.
You can understand why fans are so disappointed at the way they’ve fallen in recent years, and there is pressure on the owners to get this summer right if they want to kick-on.
