‘We could form a great trio’ — Ferran Torres responds when asked about Nico Williams’ Barcelona links | OneFootball

FC Barcelona had a very good 2024-25 season, and their attack was particularly exciting during that campaign. However, the Blaugrana fans have every reason to be even more excited about their team’s attacking capabilities for the next season, as the Catalans are now looking to even further bolster their attack by adding the Athletic Club winger, Nico Williams.

Last season, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal were the starting three forwards for Hansi Flick. However, Ferran Torres also played a prominent part in their campaign and showcased his abilities particularly well as a false 9, when Lewandowski was unable to play due to injury or fatigue.

The Spaniard missed the end of the season because of his appendicitis. However, now he is fully recovered and looking forward to the next season.

Ferran Torres keen to play with Nico Williams at Barcelona

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the forward was particularly excited to play with his international teammate Nico Williams at Barcelona. He made these feelings clear as he spoke to the media while attending a summer camp organized by the Blaugrana club in his native town of Foios.

Talking about Nico’s arrival, Torres said:

“I haven’t spoken to him. We ran into each other in Ibiza, but we preferred not to talk about that. All top players want to join big clubs, and Barça is one of them. I don’t know what will happen, but I hope it turns out well. We’ve already played together for the national team, and I’d love to play with him again — we could form a great trio if everything falls into place.”

Eager for the next season

Furthermore, the forward also clearly expressed his desire to stay and do well at Barcelona:

“Physically, I’m well and mentally even better. Looking forward and eager to join the team as soon as possible, and hoping it will be a great year like the last one. I see myself at Barcelona and I’m going to stay at Barcelona. I’m optimistic and will fight to earn a starting spot.”

There is no doubt that the addition of Nico Williams to this Barcelona attack would even further improve an already world-class forward line. Hopefully, Ferran Torres himself will be able to play a prominent part in the upcoming campaign, and enjoy his time with his compatriots like Nico and Lamine Yamal.
