Birmingham City manager Chris Davies has admitted Blues have not got the best out of winter window signing August Priske yet at St. Andrew’s.

Priske arrived at Birmingham from the Swedish club Djurgardens in the 2026 winter transfer window on a five-and-a-half-year contract, which runs until 2031.

The 21-year-old striker scored 24 goals and provided three assists in 52 matches during his time at Djurgardens in all competitions and arrived at Birmingham highly rated.

This season, the Danish striker is yet to open his account for Birmingham, having played eleven matches so far in all competitions, but scored for Denmark Under-21s over the international break.

Davies feels that Priske has shown glimpses of quality and it is Blues that have been unable to get the best out of him so far.

Priske is a player who thrives on crosses into the box, says Davies, and the club need to get people around him to provide support and lay in crosses inside the opposition penalty box.

With only seven Championship games to go, Davies claimed that Priske will get some opportunities before the end of the season as he continues to get his rhythm back following an illness which has seen him only train a little in recent weeks.

Davies said on Blues+ (1:58): “He’s a player that thrives on crosses obviously, because of his size.

“I think we need to get people around him.

“I think there was a game, the Charlton game that he played, it was too much, he was on his own, very isolated.

“I think we need to make sure we’ve got people around him that he can combine with and slide him in crosses. That’s what he’s really good at.

“We haven’t got the best out of him yet.

“He’s obviously still getting going and everything, but he has shown what he’s capable of; there are glimpses of that definitely.

“In the next seven games, he’s definitely going to get some opportunities.”

Birmingham are currently eleventh in the Championship table with 53 points in 39 matches and ten points away from the playoff spots.

Blues are due to lock horns with Blackburn Rovers today as they look to get all three points, though ex-Championship striker Sam Parkin is doubtful about Birmingham making the playoffs this season.

Priske scored 18 goals and provided two assists in 27 matches for Djurgardens last season, becoming the top scorer in the Allsvenskan.

Davies will want to see Birmingham get the most of the striker in the coming weeks as he looks to get Birmingham as close to the top six as possible, especially as failing to reach the playoffs could even place questions over his job.
