Spanish national team head coach Luis de la Fuente has on Wednesday moved to reveal his appreciation for Barcelona star Ansu Fati.
This, of course, comes fresh off the 21-year-old being dealt a fresh blow on the injury front.
Amid what has been a difficult start to the campaign for Ansu, the talented attacker was earlier today condemned to another spell on the sidelines.
This comes owing to a hamstring injury suffered whilst in training with Hansi Flick’s squad.
Ansu is, as a result, expected to spend the next month on the sidelines, further damaging his chances of carving out a consistent role for himself in a talent-packed Barcelona frontline.
Speaking during an interview with Diario Sport on Wednesday, the name of the young winger was, in turn, put to the aforementioned Luis de la Fuente.
This comes with Ansu, at one point in the not-so-distant past, having been considered one of the standout up-and-coming performers in Spanish football.
De la Fuente, in turn, went on to admit that he has been ‘hurt’ by the Blaugrana man’s recent woes, amid lasting hope of a La Roja comeback for Ansu down the line:
“It hurts me a lot that he has been injured again. And of course it is recoverable. His talent is fantastic, we love him very much. With me he has been in different stages and I’m sure he can come back. When he returns to play he will be in the process of gaining confidence, which is sometimes very complex, when you have a level as high as the one Ansu showed. But everything is a process. First he has to go through because he is, well, safe, confident and plays a great game. To the one who plays a great game, of which I am satisfied, it will change his dynamic. Because it has always been in our mind to be able to select him.”
