Werder Bremen have signed Swiss striker Cedric Itten from Fortuna Düsseldorf, bolstering Daniel Thioune’s squad ahead of the new Bundesliga season.

The club said in a statement that they had completed the deal. Itten scored 15 league goals in 2025/26, placing him among the 2. Bundesliga’s most productive forwards.

Despite Düsseldorf’s relegation, several clubs showed interest before Werder won the race. A clause voided his contract once Fortuna dropped to the 3. Liga, allowing the move on a free.

Bremen view the Switzerland international as an ideal addition, highlighting his physical presence, aerial strength and eye for goal.

The switch reunites Itten with head coach Daniel Thioune, the pair having worked together at Fortuna early last season. That connection reportedly influenced his decision, and he soon became the club’s leading attacking threat.

Itten is currently part of the Switzerland squad at the 2026 World Cup.
