‘We’re going to beat them’ – Arsenal’s Kai Havertz shows confidence ahead of Champions League final against PSG | OneFootball

There is a French expression that says you shouldn’t sell the skin of the bear before you’ve killed it. In other words, it’s important not to make promises you can’t keep. Kai Havertz (26) may well learn this the hard way… or perhaps not.

Be that as it may, the German Arsenal forward, when questioned by the press a few hours before kick-off in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain, appeared confident in his team’s strengths. “To be honest, they (PSG) were probably the best team in Europe last year, and have achieved great things again this season,” he acknowledged, before talking about his own teammates and issuing a warning to his opponents.

“We’re so confident; we’ve been competing at the highest level for a couple of years now and we’ve finally won the Premier League, which has given us a massive boost. And whatever happens, we’re going to go out on the pitch and beat them.”

Back in the Champions League final 20 years after their 2-1 defeat to FC Barcelona, Mikel Arteta’s men are now hoping to lift the first Champions League trophy in the London club’s history.
