West Bromwich Albion are targeting a much more positive year than last and look to have won the race for their latest addition after beating a La Liga outfit to their signature.

West Brom finished just one place above the relegation zone last season, with James Morrison stepping in to save the day and keep the Baggies afloat.

Since then, the Scot has taken the head coach role at The Hawthorns permanently, and has been actively pursuing reinforcements in the transfer market, especially after the contract expirations of the likes of Daryl Dike, Josh Maja, Jed Wallace, and Karlan Grant.

Each of Carter Pinnington, Barney Stewart, Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Conor Townsend, and Nolan Galves has arrived through the doors in the Black Country this summer, and they could be followed by another addition sooner rather than later.

According to Norwegian publication BA, West Brom have successfully fended off interest from Spanish top-flight outfit Elche for the signature of SK Brann midfielder Felix Horn Myhre.

Horn Myhre, 27, has scored 32 goals and grabbed a further 39 assists in 179 games across all competitions during his time with Brann, and has notched seven caps for the Norwegian national team, scoring twice.

BA have reported that West Brom will pay around £3.1 million for Horn Myhre, who narrowly missed out on a place in Norway's squad for the recent World Cup.

Having found success in the Scandinavian market with the likes of Torbjorn Heggem and Aune Heggebo previously, the Baggies are looking to reunite Horn Myhre and Heggebo in the Black Country, having been teammates together at SK Brann.

It's not an insignificant fee for West Brom to be parting ways with, but one that will certainly have supporters excited.

Horn Myhre will add another option to West Brom's midfield upon his arrival, providing competition in the middle of the park to the likes of Alex Mowatt, Ousmane Diakite, Jayson Molumby and Isaac Price.

Molumby has drawn interest from Championship big-spenders Wrexham recently, and should the Irish international be on his way out, it could create a gap for the Norwegian in the side, despite not quite being a like-for-like replacement.

The 27-year-old has proven to be a constant goal and creative threat from the midfield, and will add some much-needed creativity and attacking nous from that area of the pitch.
