West Brom ‘to finalise’ Barney Stewart deal as Aston Villa ‘to consider’ Serhou Guirassy | OneFootball

West Brom are close to a seven-figure deal for Falkirk striker Barney Stewart, while Aston Villa are assessing striker and goalkeeper options.

Speculation that Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy had agreed to join Fenerbahce was dismissed by his brother and agent, who told Sky Sports the claims were false. Villa are nevertheless being linked with the Guinea international, and Tottenham are also said to be monitoring him. Guirassy has scored 56 goals across two seasons for Dortmund.

Reports in Scotland suggest Stewart travelled to the Midlands on Friday for talks, with terms on a four-year contract agreed and future add-ons included for Falkirk.

Albion are also considering a move for Celtic first-team coach Gavin Strachan, who has been a prominent figure since arriving six years ago.

Villa are assessing potential replacements for Emi Martinez, who continues to be heavily linked with Juventus. The club have kept tabs on Real Sociedad goalkeeper Alex Remiro and are reportedly battling Manchester United for Parma’s Zion Suzuki.

Barcelona’s €30 million, around £25.5m, option to sign former Villa loanee Marcus Rashford has lapsed without a permanent deal. The 28-year-old will return to Manchester United on 1 July, a scenario that could invite Villa interest, although Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham have also been mentioned. Rashford is currently involved in the Club World Cup.
