West Brom host Burnley on Sunday in their Championship home opener, but Aune Heggebo’s suspension forces James Morrison into a rethink.
ExpressAndStar.com reports that the FA ban was a shock and follows a disrupted build-up last weekend, when Alex Mowatt departed on the eve of Norwich. Before the Heggebo news, changes in midfield and out wide had been considered.
The expectation had been for Jayson Molumby to start after his impact from the bench at Carrow Road, likely for Felix Horn Myhre. Against opponents of Burnley’s calibre, Horn Myhre might have shifted to the right for Harry Whitwell, but that plan has changed.
Now Whitwell may keep his place on the right, with Horn Myhre pushed higher as an extra runner behind lone striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan. He could use his energy in support, with Molumby and Ousmane Diakite providing stability and Isaac Price to his left.
The back line broadly picks itself. Burnley are expected to see plenty of the ball, so this shape could give Albion legs to press.
Predicted line-up is four-four-one-one, with Max O’Leary in goal, a back four of Nolan Galves, Nat Phillips, George Campbell and Callum Styles, a midfield of Harry Whitwell, Jayson Molumby, Ousmane Diakite and Isaac Price, Felix Horn Myhre off Jimmy-Jay Morgan.
Substitutes: Ingram (gk), Mepham, Bielik, Williams, Townsend, Deeming, Johnston, Nzingoula, Stewart.
