Manchester United youngster Toby Collyer was courted by multiple clubs across the Championship over the summer, before the midfielder ended up joining West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan.
The Baggies have collected a mixed bag of results under the guidance of Ryan Mason thus far, with Mason's side sitting in seventh, a point away from the play-off places.
Collyer himself, though, will be frustrated with his lack of minutes in an Albion shirt thus far, with the youngster racking up just 157 in the league, while his first start did not come until Saturday's 3-0 loss against Millwall.
After a far-from-ideal start to life at the Hawthorns for the 21-year-old, FLW's Baggies fan pundit Callum Burgess has expressed his desire to see more of Collyer before making a full judgement on the midfielder.
"I think that Manchester United will be frustrated," said Callum, when asked whether he deems Collyer to be at a level good enough for the 20-time champions of England.
"Personally, I would like to see him alongside Mowatt more, and potentially replace Molumby in the starting 11. I think that he would benefit from playing alongside someone like Mowatt, who is calm on the ball and is Albion's most progressive player."
Collyer's first start came in a 3-0 defeat against Millwall at The Den on Saturday, with the Manchester United academy graduate starting alongside Jayson Molumby in midfield. Despite the loss, Collyer stood out, with no one winning more tackles than his four, while he completed 89% of his passes and won 66% of his duels.
Callum added: "For Collyer, the jury is still out, but United will be hoping that he does eventually get more minutes in the starting 11. I don't think that Albion fans have seen enough to know whether or not he is a Manchester United-level player."
After making his first appearance for the first team at Old Trafford, Collyer went on to make 13 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils in total, before his loan move to the Black Country this summer.
He has since only appeared in an Albion shirt for 157 Championship minutes, though in this time, he has stood out.
Collyer sits in the 98th percentile for touches per 90 in the second tier, with 92.29, and he is simply an all-action midfielder. While further appearances could see these numbers drop over time, his underlying numbers show a fantastic mixture when it comes to his progressive nature and defensive reading.
Collyer is yet to fully break in under Ryan Mason, and the loss at Millwall may put some Baggies fans off, considering his only start came in a heavy defeat; however, his further development will require consistent minutes on the pitch.
The youngster is highly rated within Manchester United circles, and Ruben Amorim's reluctance to field academy graduates, as seen with the ongoing Kobbie Mainoo situation, means that a loan move was the best option over the summer.
The chance to operate in one of the better Championship sides, especially one that looks to keep the ball, will only benefit him.
However, as mentioned by Callum, Albion fans are yet to really see enough of the 21-year-old to make a real judgement on whether he will become an integral part of Mason's side, never mind whether he is someone ready to fully break into the first team at Old Trafford.
