ExpressAndStar.com reports that Albion duo James Morrison and George Campbell have been shortlisted for the Championship’s March awards.
West Brom are unbeaten in six, a sequence that has opened a four-point cushion to the dotted line with five matches left.
Morrison, in charge until season’s end, has overseen their longest streak since Tony Mowbray’s side went six unbeaten between February and March last year. That was followed by five defeats in six, after which Mowbray was dismissed.
Morrison, 39, collected eight points from four March fixtures, ending the month with back-to-back wins over Hull and Bristol City. He is up against Matt Bloomfield of Oxford, Coventry’s Frank Lampard and Southampton’s Tonda Eckert for manager of the month.
Campbell, a United States defender signed from Montreal last summer, has been central to the upturn. After spending much of his debut Hawthorns campaign at right-back, Morrison moved him into central defence early in his tenure.
He helped deliver consecutive clean sheets in March and contributed at the other end too. He responded to an own goal in the draw at Sheffield United with a long-range equaliser, then headed the winner at Ashton Gate before the international break, his third goal in six.
Other player-of-the-month nominees are Derby’s former Albion loanee Matt Clarke, Millwall striker Josh Coburn and Southampton goalkeeper Daniel Peretz. Winners will be confirmed on Friday.
