The announcement comes after Graham Potter was sacked by the London club on Saturday morning, just nine months into his tenure.

Potter had been in charge of the Hammers since January this year, but a dismal start to the 2025/26 campaign prompted the change.

“I am very pleased to be here and very proud to be representing West Ham United,” said Nuno.

“My objective is to work hard to get the very best from the team and ensure that we are as competitive as we possibly can be.

"The work has already started and I am looking forward to the challenge that is ahead.”

Nuno was most recently in charge of Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, guiding them to a seventh-placed finish last season and into European competition.

However, the 51-year-old was relieved of his duties earlier this month, despite being rewarded with a new contract back in June.

The decision came after he criticised senior figures at Forest over their transfer strategy and admitted publicly in a press conference that his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis “was not the same”.

He also previously had spells in the Premier League with Wolves and Tottenham.
