West Ham United and Lazio are currently engaged in direct negotiations for Taty Castellanos, who could be on his way out of Formello.
The Argentine striker has been Maurizio Sarri’s first choice up front since the start of the season. However, after a few disappointing displays, he was dropped from the starting lineup in the final fixture of 2025 in Udine, with Tijjani Noslin getting the nod. While the manager described it as a technical decision, many observers considered it a sign of an imminent exit.

In recent days, Flamengo tried to pounce on the situation by making an offer for the longtime target, but it fell below Lazio’s asking price. Moreover, Castellanos is said to be eager to stay in Europe, and it appears that West Ham are now willing to grant his wish. The Hammers have recently sent Niclas Fullkrug to AC Milan, making room for an attacking arrival.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, West Ham, who have been monitoring the 27-year-old for quite some time, have now made a concrete approach, opening negotiations with Lazio. The two clubs have been discussing a deal on Thursday morning. While it remains too early to reach an agreement, the talks between the parties have been progressing.
Pedullà adds that Lazio’s asking price has dropped well below the €30 million mark. He believes that Claudio Lotito would be willing to accept an offer in the region of €23-25 million. On the other hand, fellow Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio believes the price tag remains €25-30 million, while adding that Castellanos’ former club, New York City FC, would receive a sell-on fee.
Selling the Argentine international would allow Lazio to register important capital gains and boost their accounts ahead of March’s crucial half-yearly report, as they look to avoid another transfer ban. Nevertheless, the club would be expected to sign a replacement, perhaps one more suited to Sarri’s style of play.
