West Ham United have confirmed that they will continue their front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with BOYLE Sports.
Despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League and the recent controversy surrounding former co-chairman David Sullivan, the partnership remains in place.
While Premier League clubs are moving away from gambling companies as shirt sponsors due to incoming regulations, those restrictions do not apply in the English Football League (EFL).
That loophole will allow the Hammers to continue their agreement with BOYLE Sports next season, and the decision comes at a crucial time for the club.
West Ham are expected to begin a new era under Czech businessman Daniel Kretinsky.
He is set to become the club’s largest shareholder after agreeing a deal with the Gold family that will increase his ownership stake to 43 percent.
BOYLE Sports also addressed the allegations of sexual abuse made against Sullivan, which the former co-chairman strongly denies.
The company said they had not been informed that Sullivan had previously been subject to a safeguarding ban and described the allegations as ‘extremely concerning’.
Sullivan resigned from his position following the accusations.
Despite the off-field issues, BOYLE Sports believe their relationship is with West Ham rather than any individual, and they view the coming season as the beginning of a fresh chapter.
West Ham’s interim chief executive officer, Karim Virani, said: “We’re delighted to have BOYLE Sports continue as our front-of-shirt partner as part of the multi-year principal partnership.
“As we enter an exciting new era for the club and prepare for a pivotal season, it matters that our commercial partners share the same passion and drive that we have for our loyal fans.
“BOYLE Sports has approached the partnership in that spirit, and we look forward to continuing to work with them.”
BOYLE Sports CEO, Vlad Kaltenieks, added: “West Ham United is one of the most recognisable clubs in English football, with a proud history and a passionate fanbase.
“We were proud to begin our partnership last season, but this is only the start, and we look forward to an exciting season ahead.”
