West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo has provided an injury update on winger Crysencio Summerville, and says he will be unavailable for the Premier League game against Manchester City.

Summerville will miss the game with a calf issue which he picked up against Brentford in the FA Cup. West Ham won the game on penalties after it finished 2-2 after extra time.

The Dutchman started the game on the bench and came on at the start of the second half. He managed to play for 75 minutes, including all of extra time, but was forced off during that period after suffering a knock to his calf.

He received some treatment on it and was able to finish the game, but did not take a penalty in the shootout.

Speaking ahead of the City game, Santo said: “Summerville is out. We will assess him day by day and see how he goes. But he is not going to be available for the game. We just have to assess him day by day and see how he goes.

“Hopefully he keeps improving. We are going to miss him. He is an important player for us. But for this game, for sure, he is not going to be available.”

Asked if he regrets sending Summerville back onto the pitch on Monday night, Santo said: “I regret many things. But I don’t now how each thing will end up. No, it is nothing to do with that. It can happen at any minute or any moment.

“What is for sure is that when he came on he was a big help for the team and really did well. He was doing well for many, many games before this. He has been huge for us.”

Summerville has scored seven goals and registered four assists in all competitions this season.
