West Ham United are looking to sign Everton defender Michael Keane before next Tuesday’s transfer deadline, according to ExWHUEmployee.
Manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants experienced players in his ranks as the Hammers eye an immediate return to the Premier League.
Keane has played 286 times in the top-flight and he is available for sale after nine seasons with Everton.
The 33-year-old started 29 of the 33 league games he featured in last term, but Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski are ahead of him in the pecking order.
The duo started the Premier League game against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Keane returned for the League Cup game against Preston North End last night, he is expected to return to the bench when Everton take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Englishman could be open to leaving and West Ham could give him an opportunity to play regularly, albeit in the Championship.
The Hammers wanted Axel Disasi but he has opted to join Palace and they could now move for Keane.
The defender has experience in the division having featured for Leicester City, Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley.
The Everton star would bring much-needed leadership to the West Ham squad.
