WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Hammers this afternoon.
The 26-year-old full-back joins West Ham United upon the expiry of her contract with German Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga club Eintract Frankfurt. She has signed a three-year deal with the East Londoners.
Riesen spent her early years playing in her native Switzerland with FC St. Gallen, BSC Young Boys and FC Zürich where she won two Swiss league titles and a domestic cup. She then joined latest club Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023.
On the international stage, Riesen has been capped by Switzerland on 42 occasions in which she has scored two goals.
After joining West Ham United, Riesen said “When I heard about West Ham’s interest in me, I was super-excited. It’s a huge Club with a proud history and I’m very happy to be here. I spoke with Seraina [Piubel] and she was really positive about the Club. It already feels like a family here and everyone has given me such a warm welcome since I arrived.
“The Women’s Super League is one of the best leagues in the world so this is a massive opportunity for me to continue my development in a new environment, challenge myself and keep doing what I love most – playing football.
“I really like Rita’s [Guarino] ambition for the team. There is a lot of potential within this group and I hope that, together, we can achieve great things.”
Riesen is West Ham United’s fourth signing of the summer.
