Brentford record their first Premier League away win of the season after a 2-0 victory over West Ham. The Bees, who scored at the end of each half, controlled large periods of a generally one-sided contest, in which they registered 22 shots on goal with an xG of 2.31. As for the Hammers, their poor performance was epitomised by their one shot on target and an xG of just 0.33. Brentford's breakthrough was a long time coming, but it finally arrived in the 43rd minute, when Schade teed up Thiago for the opener. Thiago thought he had doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time, but was denied by the offside flag following a VAR review. The visitors remained in control after the break, and eventually got their second goal right at the death with Lewis-Potter setting up Jensen to seal the deal. West Ham have lost their opening four home games in a season for the first time, but have a chance to bounce back on Friday, when they face Leeds United at Elland Road.
