Six players have been ruled out and three more are doubtful for Sunday’s season finale between West Ham and Leeds at the London Stadium, with two now expected back. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Daniel Farke delivered the updates at Friday’s pre-match briefing.
The Hammers, sitting third-bottom, must win to have any chance of staying up. Given their inferior goal difference, they would still go down if Tottenham avoid defeat at home to Everton. A West Ham win and an Everton victory would seal a final-day escape.
Leeds have been safe for two weeks, confirmed when Arsenal won 1-0 at West Ham, leaving United secure with three to play. Farke has stressed the need to finish strongly and his side are unbeaten in eight after last weekend’s last-gasp 1-0 home win over high-flying Brighton.
Leeds are without Noah Okafor, Gabi Gudmundsson, Anton Stach, Sean Longstaff and Ilia Gruev. Okafor has a calf problem and Gudmundsson a hamstring issue from the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea. Stach sustained an ankle blow against Brighton and, while Farke says it is not major and he would have been available next week, he joins Longstaff, who had hernia surgery this week, and Gruev, whose meniscus injury ended his season.
For West Ham, Lukasz Fabianski is out with a back injury. He has not featured for the first team this season, his only outing coming for the under-21s in an FEL Trophy tie against MK Dons in September. The Hammers also have further doubts.
