West Ham United entertain Leicester City in the Premier League this evening.

The two teams head into the clash in contrasting mood. West Ham earned a 1-0 win at Arsenal at the weekend in their best performance under new head coach Graham Potter. Despite a disappointing campaign, the Hammers have optimism ahead of the run-in.

Evan Ferguson could make his first start for the East Londoners, though Lucas Paqueta and Vladimir Coufal have been ruled out. That duo join Michail Antonio, Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug on the sidelines.

Leicester arrive in the capital in torrid form with time running out to preserve their Premier League status. Currently 19th, the Foxes are five points adrift of safety.

James Justin will be assessed after missing last weekend’s defeat at Brentford, while Abdul Fatawu and Ricardo Pereira are long-term absentees.

Last weekend’s win at Arsenal was a huge lift for the Hammers. Jarrod Bowen scored the only goal of the game as West Ham upset their London rivals at the Emirates. It was a first win in five league games and just the second since Graham Potter’s appointment.

Potter will hope that result can kickstart a strong end to the campaign as West Ham look to build momentum under the new coach. A win this evening will see the East Londoners climb above Everton and into 15th in the table.

Leicester: LWLLL

Leicester are mired in relegation trouble and have lost 10 of their last 11 league games. The Foxes have failed to score in four of their last five games and were beaten 4-0 by Brentford last time out. However, encouragement can be taken from their last trip to the capital. Goals from Jamie Vardy and Bilal El Khannouss secured a shock win at Tottenham on January 26.

Leicester got off to a dream start under new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy in December.

Jamie Vardy opened the scoring inside 98 seconds at the King Power Stadium before further goals from Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka sealed the points. The win was just Leicester’s third of the campaign and pushed West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui closer to the exit door.

Niclas Fullkrug headed home a late consolation for the Hammers in stoppage time.
