West Ham United head across London knowing a victory against Brentford on Saturday could effectively secure their top-flight status.
Nuno Espírito Santo has overseen a dramatic improvement since arriving at the London Stadium in February. The Hammers have earned twenty-two points from their last thirteen Premier League matches. They were seven points adrift of safety but now sit two points clear. This weekend’s trip feels like a must-win given the difficulty of their final three fixtures.
The Hammers face Arsenal and Newcastle next before a final-day clash with Leeds United. Failure to beat Brentford could leave them relying on other results to avoid the drop. Nuno often sets his team up to play reactive football when facing supposedly superior opponents. However, that tactical approach has struggled against the current top nine teams this season. West Ham have not won a single match against sides in that bracket so far.
Nuno Espírito Santo is hopeful of naming a settled starting XI for the fourth consecutive match. There are no fresh injury concerns following the vital 2-1 win over Everton last weekend. Small knocks will be assessed, but the manager expects a nearly fully-fit squad. Callum Wilson is pushing for a start after scoring 90th-minute winners in his last two games. In his absence from the start, Valentin Castellanos and Pablo Felipe have worked well together.
Jarrod Bowen remains the focal point of the attack as he chases a significant milestone. He is just two assists away from becoming the first Hammer with fifty Premier League assists. Bowen has scored seven goals in his last seven games for the East London club. Kyle Walker-Peters is expected to keep his place at right-back ahead of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Nuno believes the character shown by his players recently will be key on Saturday.
West Ham United predicted XI: Hermansen; Walker-Peters, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf; Bowen, Soucek, Fernandes, Summerville; Pablo; Castellanos
West Ham United face Brentford at 15:00 BST on Saturday, 2 May 2026.
