Westerlo have announced the signing of David Nicolas Amegnaglo from Bundesliga side Freiburg. The 21-year-old has signed a four year deal with Westerlo. The now former Freiburg striker joins just a few days after striker Nacho Ferri departed Westerlo to join Feyenoord. Amegnaglo is a typical Westerlo signing, with the club preferring to bring in young players that they can develop and sell on, such as Ferri.
The young German forward never made a senior appearance for Freiburg, instead playing for the sides second team. Born in France, the young forward is also eligible to play for Togo and can play either up front or out wide. Last season he was in fine form for the Freiburg second team. In 31 games in the south western Regionalliga, Amegnaglo scored 13 goals and provided seven assists.
Amegnaglo will need to help Westerlo replace the goals they have now lost from losing Ferri to Feyenoord. The Spanish striker provided Westerlo with 11 goals in over 30 games during the 2025/2026 Belgian Pro League season.
