Weverton will miss Grêmio’s match against Corinthians on 30 May, reporting to Brazil duty on 27, but he remains available for the club’s next three fixtures.
According to Globo.com, Grêmio considered asking the CBF to release him for the Corinthians game, however the goalkeeper will present at Granja Comary in Teresópolis on 27 May as planned.
The final Brasileirão round before the pause falls on 30 May, the day before Brazil face Panama at the Maracanã.
Before joining the national team, he is set to face Palestino on 20 May in the Sul-Americana, Santos on 23 May in the Brasileirão, and Montevideo City Torque on 26 May in the Sul-Americana, all at the Arena.
His absence leaves Grêmio short in goal, with understudy Gabriel Grando sidelined by a fractured right-hand finger until after the World Cup.
That makes Thiago Beltrame, 22, the next option for Corinthians. The academy graduate has only featured in the Copa FGF and is yet to debut for the first team.
