What changes Vincent Kompany should make for Bayern Munich against Hoffenheim? | OneFootball

On Wednesday evening, Bayern will play their 17th Bundesliga game of the season - the exact halfway stage of the season - when they welcome 1899 Hoffenheim to the Allianz Arena, for a 20:30 CET kick off.

Last time out, Bayern picked up an important 1-0 victory away to bogey side Borussia Monchengladbach. Although they deserved to win the game, and by more than one goal, there were some things that were far from perfect. Here are the changes Kompany should make to his XI against Hoffenheim.

Dayot Upamecano for Kim Min-jae

Yep, that is correct - it should be Upamecano coming in for Kim, rather than Eric Dier. The player himself admitted he had been playing through injury before the winter break. Although he has now had a three week break, perhaps two games a week is not the most optimals scenario right now?

Admittedly, there will be times where he has to play twice a week, but if you can minimise the amount of times he has to, it would be ideal. Also, Dier and Upamecano have played very few times together. Last season, the Englishman partnered Matthijs de Ligt, and the few times he has played this season have been next to Kim.

There could be a scenario where the South Korean picks up an injury, and the partnership may well be Dier and Upamecano as a result. Getting them used to playing together would be a good way to prepare for such a scenario.
