There are reports that Juventus are practically guaranteed to activate their option to buy Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle United, as details emerge on the deal.

The official statement only confirmed that this was a January loan worth €3m with option to buy at the end of the season that becomes an obligation if certain conditions are met for a further €14.5m.

From the start, it was hinted that these conditions were extremely easy to achieve, making it to all intents and purposes an obligation to make the move permanent.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the condition is that Juventus must buy Kelly if they qualify for any UEFA competition during the 2025-26 campaign.

That could even include the Europa Conference League, so Juve would have to finish in the top six to activate that obligation.

The Bianconeri are currently joint fourth in the Serie A table along with Lazio.

Along with the €17.5m, there are also various performance-related bonuses of up to €3m, but €2m of those are quite difficult to achieve.
