Millwall supporters will have mixed emotions following Femi Azeez's latest exploits

Femi Azeez was a class act for Millwall during the 2025/26 season and has already attracted external admirers ahead of the summer transfer window.

The talented winger's impressive return of 11 goals and seven assists in 35 Championship appearances helped the Lions to a third-place finish in the second tier.

Alex Neil's men missed out on automatic promotion to the Premier League by just one point, but went on to lose to eventual play-off winners Hull City in the semi-finals.

Millwall will hope to be battling at the right end of the Championship table once again next season, and retaining Azeez's services will be key to those aspirations.

Azeez failed to trouble Hull's defence in the play-offs, but he did score a brace when the Lions defeated Oxford United 2-0 in their final game of the regular season.

Millwall's aforementioned triumph over Oxford wasn't enough to secure automatic promotion, as second-place Ipswich Town beat Queens Park Rangers 3-0.

According to Football Insider, Azeez has been subject to a fresh £20million bid from Ipswich, who were also interested in his services in the winter transfer window.

The report added that the Lions have rejected the Tractor Boys' advances for the 24-year-old's services.

Meanwhile, Southwark News revealed in February that Millwall rejected a bid for Azeez from Ipswich that would have been a club-record sale.

Even though the Lions have retained the former Reading ace for now, the Tractor Boys' bids for his services are unlikely to be the end of his transfer saga.

The winger's impressive Championship performances have earned him recognition on the international stage, as he made his Nigeria debut against Zimbabwe on 26 May in the Unity Cup.

Azeez grabbed that opportunity with both hands, scoring a brace as the Super Eagles defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 at Charlton Athletic's home stadium, The Valley.

He then notched an assist when Nigeria defeated Jamaica 3-0 four days later, thanks to Alhassan Yusuf's brace and Terem Moffi's goal.

Azeez will hope to represent his nation once again when they face Poland and Portugal in June, but the Super Eagles haven't qualified for this summer's World Cup.

Millwall supporters will be pleased to see their club's star man shining on the international stage, as it bodes well for what he could go on to achieve in Lions colours, should he remain at The Den.

However, fans of Neil's side will also be worried that Azeez's performances for Nigeria could intensify the transfer interest in his services ahead of next season.

One Femi Azeez factor could enable him to shine in the Premier League

Azeez has established himself as one of the best wingers in the Championship, so interest in his services from Ipswich is no surprise, even following the Tractor Boys' promotion to the Premier League.

However, Kieran McKenna's current wing options, Jack Clarke and Jaden Philogene-Bidace, have epitomised the gulf in class between the top flight and the second tier, having struggled in the Premier League but excelled in the Championship.

Azeez may have the tools to succeed in the top tier, though, as he is equally comfortable on both his left and right foot, which could make him tough for any defender to deal with.

Fellow winger Antoine Semenyo adapted well to the Premier League after joining Bournemouth from Bristol City, largely thanks to his two-footedness, and he is now excelling for Manchester City, which bodes well for Azeez.

For now, though, Millwall supporters will be proud of their star man's Nigeria exploits, but will also be worried that it could help fast-track his Den departure.
