What happens if there’s a draw in the 2025 Torneo Clausura play-offs

The Professional Football League clarified how the definition will be in case of a tie in regulation time starting from the round of 16 of the 2025 Clausura Tournament. In the first stage of the playoffs, Boca will face Talleres de Córdoba at La Bombonera.

The organization of the championship announced the dates and times for the round of 16 matchups after the last game that determined the fate of the teams. Xeneize will have to face the team from Córdoba led by Carlos Tevez.

Claudio Úbeda’s team will have the sporting advantage of playing at La Bombonera for having finished in first place in Zone A. The match will take place on Sunday, November 23, starting at 8:00 p.m.

In addition, the Professional League reminded how the definition will be in case of a tie after the 90 minutes of regulation time. Starting from the round of 16, there will be a 30-minute extra time (two halves of 15 minutes), and if the tie persists, a penalty shootout will take place, in accordance with the provisions of art. 111 section I, point 1) c). of the AFA General Regulations.

This is different from what happened in the Apertura Tournament, where this format was only used in the final match. Teams now know they will face greater physical demands if they cannot overcome their opponents in the ninety minutes.
