A football pundit has ruled out a move for former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca to join Manchester United as their new boss.

It’s the most obvious link around right now, isn’t it? Maresca has parted company with Chelsea on New Years Day so he’s effectively now out of a job and will be looking to get back into coaching.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea in for Ivory Coast international winger!

Manchester United have just sacked their manager Ruben Amorim on Monday morning, so they are on the hunt for a replacement. Put two and two together and you end up with Maresca being a candidate for United now.

It’s not something that many people would be wise enough to bet against happening right now, but one option being Maresca to come as an interim manager at United, has been ruled out by pundit Jamie O’Hara.

One Red Devils fan spoke to Sky Sports on Monday morning and was excited to suggest that the club could appoint Enzo Maresca on an interim basis before a permanent appointment in the summer.

That suggestion did not go down with O’Hara, who put his head in his hands before responding. He said: “What? Maresca? Interim? You’re living in cuckoo land. I know you’re ecstatic and want to get the champagne out now that Amorim has gone, but you ain’t getting Maresca in as an interim manager.

“Maresca’s credit in the bank has probably gone up since he’s been sacked at Chelsea. He’s not going to take an interim role at Manchester United. I understand if you want to bring him in on a four-year contract potentially, but the reason he left Chelsea and fell out with the board is exactly the same reason as Amorim has done. Maresca is going to look at Manchester United and go, ‘absolutely no chance am I going there, are you joking’.”
